Description

"Plants medium-sized. Leaves suberect, paler green, deeply divided, lateral lobes usually 4–5, ± patent or ± irregular, narrowly triangular and acuminate or with a ± sigmoid distal margin, convex at the base with a long, almost linear distal part, distal margin ± entire or denticulate, interlobes narrow, long, sparsely filiform dentate, terminal lobe ± broadly triangular. Petioles narrow, vivid purple. Scape pale brownish-purplish, araneous or sparsely so. Outer bracts usually 12–17, arcuate or subadpressed, not imbricate, very sparsely ciliate above, pale yellowish-greenish, usually suffused with pink or pale purple, ± lanceolate, 8.5–11 mm long, (2.3–) 3–4 mm wide, borders inconspicuous, pinkish or whitish-membranaceous, 0.1-0.2 mm wide. Capitulum yellow, 3–3.5 cm in diameter, outer ligules striped grey-reddish, inner ligule teeth dirty reddish. Stigmas pale yellowish-greenish or green, pollen present. Achenes 3.4–4.1 mm long, achene body ± densely spinulose above, abruptly narrowing to a subconical or subcylindrical cone 0.4–0.6 mm long, rostrum 8–10 mm long, pappus 5–6 mm long."
