Description

"Plants small, to 8–9 cm tall. Petioles pale green, usually suffused purplish, narrowly winged in outer leaves, unwingedin inner ones, ± glabrous; plant base sparsely hairy, tunic not developed. Leaves mid-green to deep green, subglabrous, usually with pink mid-vein, oblanceolate in outline, usually 5–8 × 1.5–2 cm, usually pinnatisect, with 3–4 pairs of lateral segments, ± deltoid-triangular, patent, subentire in outer leaves, recurved to subhamate, narrowly triangular and sparsely dentate to subentire in inner leaves; interlobes distinct, to ca. 5 mm wide in outer leaves, ca. 2–3 mm wide in inner leaves; terminal segment usually broadly triangular, often with ± convex, entire margins, basal lobules short, ± recurved or patent. Scapes brownish green, sometimes ± purplish, subglabrous, usually with a few hairs below capitulum, ± equalling leaves. Capitulum yellow, ca. 2.5 cm wide. Involucre dark green to mid-green, ca. 7–8 mm wide and ± rounded at base. Outer phyllaries ca. 13–15, ± not imbricate, broadly lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, ca. 6–7.5 × 1.7–2.7 mm, border very narrow, indistinct, membranous, to 0.1 mm wide, bordered pinkish or purplish inside (mostly distally), surface ± lighter green, with visible venation, margins sometimes sparsely denticulate, distally very minutely and sparsely ciliate, apex usually with a short obtuse horn or corniculate; inner phyllaries ca 13–14 mm long, of ± unequal width, apex darker, corniculate. Outer ligules ± flat, striped grey-purple outside, inner ligule teeth usually purplish. Anthers polliniferous, pollen grains irregular in size. Stigmas greyish green, with darker pubescence outside. Achenes brownish light fulvous (not fully ripe, probably to become brown), 3.6–3.7 × 0.7 mm, body slender, subdensely spinulose inupper 1/3, spinules distinct, long, erect-patent, some (1–3) ascending to the cone proximal half, body subgradually narrowing into cylindrical cone 0.5–0.6 mm long; beak thin, ca. 9 mm long, pappus yellowish white, ca 6 mm long.
