Description

"Plants small, to ca. 8–9 cm tall. Petiole brownish green or (?) reddish, narrow, unwinged or narrowly winged, glabrous; plant base ± glabrous, tunic ± developed. Leaves greyish green (?), mid-vein probably purplish, oblanceolate in outline, usually 4–7 × 1.2–1.6 cm, ± glabrous, pinnatipartite to pinnatisect, with ca. 2–3 pairs of narrowly triangular, patent to subrecurved, acute lateral segments, distal margin straight, often denticulate, proximal margin usually straight, ± entire; interlobes relatively broad, short, entire or less often denticulate; terminal segment ± triangular. Scapes brownish, glabrous, ± equalling leaves. Capitulum yellow, ca. 2–2.5 cm wide. Involucre dark green to blackish green, ca. 8 mm wide and rounded at base. Outer phyllaries ca. 12–14, subimbricate, ± ovate, usually 5.5–7.5 × 2–3 mm, appressed, with a distinct whitish border (0.3–) 0.5–0.8 mm wide, transition of the border in the blackish or blackish green middle part subabrupt, margins ± glabrous, apex ± flat; inner phyllaries of unequal width (neighbouring ones sometimes coalesced), ca. 15 mm long, (?) ± flat at apex. Outer ligules flat to canaliculate, striped grey-purple outside, inner ligule teeth yellow or purplish. Anthers polliniferous, pollen grains irregular in size. Stigmas blackish when dry. Achenes (unripe) ± light stramineous-brown to ± stramineous, ca. 3.9–4.1 × 0.8–0.9 mm, body ± densely squamulose and spinulose in upper 1/4–1/3, squamules deeply incised, body subabruptly narrowing into a subcylindrical or cylindrical cone 0.7–0.8mm long, ca. 0.3 mm thick at base, ca. 0.2 mm distally, beak thin, ca. 6.5 mm long, pappus yellowish white, ca 4.5 mm long.
